Review of the Rubbermaid Horizontal Storage Shed
Is a Rubbermaid Horizontal Storage Shed in your future?
If you’re in need of a good storage shed, be it outdoors for storing wood, rubbish bins or anything else you wish to keep dry, or indoors to contain various items, then Rubbermaid appear to have the answer with their horizontal storage shed.
The Rubbermaid horizontal storage shed stands proud
At 47 inches high and 60 inches wide, with a total of 32 cubic feet of internal storage space. Frankly, there’s not much that won’t fit into it. The material consists of high-density polyethylene which, to you and me, basically means that the outer surface won’t peel, crack or chip. And it’s very effective at preventing just that.
Is it Easy to Assemble?
For starters, it’s pretty easy and painless to assemble. The panels slide into space, so don’t make the mistake of trying to “snap” them together. That’s not how it’s designed. It simply takes all of 5 minutes to slot everything together and you’re good to go. Once it’s erected, it’s surprisingly attractive for what is essentially a big grey box. While you wouldn’t want to make a feature out of it, it’s not all that bad to have it visible in certain locations.
One feature of the Rubbermaid horizontal storage shed that’s particularly useful, is the grid floor. If you’re planning on storing any long handled tools then you’ll appreciate this little design consideration. It helps to keep such tools secure when they’re being stored and makes quite a difference. Another little thing worth mentioning is that the doors are lockable. Not all storage sheds have this which is worth bearing in mind, depending on what you intend to be storing in it and whether it will be inside or outside. The Rubbermaid horizontal storage shed kit doesn’t come with a lock mind you, but we’ll forgive them for that!
Cons to a Rubbermaid Horizontal Storage Shed
The only bad thing to say about the Rubbermaid horizontal storage shed is the price, and that’s being pretty picky really. The end product is a great piece of kit but you can’t help thinking that it is on the pricy side for what it is. This certainly shouldn’t deter from what is ultimately a great product but it would just be that little bit better if the price was a touch lower (take note Rubbermaid.)
TIP: When looking to buy a shed make sure to factor in the cost of shipping. These sheds are heavy and the shipping could be significant!
Here’s a summary of the Rubbermaid horizontal storage shed:
Pros:
- Great size
- Incredibly easy to assemble
- Relatively attractive
- Features a grid floor
- Doors are lockable
Cons:
- On the pricier side
As you can see, it’s been pretty hard to fault this Rubbermaid shed, and the note about price was a bit of a “cheap” shot really, no pun intended. If you’re after a high quality, weatherproof, secure storage shed that can house pretty much anything you want, then the Rubbermaid horizontal storage shed will serve you fantastically well. The risk of opting for a much cheaper shed is that you’ll likely end up with something of less substantial build quality, and that’s not what you want with something like this. Overall, a Rubbermaid Horizontal Storage Shed is a highly recommended product.
