Review of the Rubbermaid Slide Lid Shed

Rubbermaid Slide Lid Shed
If you’re limited on space in your current shed or garage, or you don’t have one at all and need somewhere to store things such as bicycles, lawn mowers, garden equipment etc, then you’re in luck. The Rubbermaid Slide Lid Shed will likely be perfect for the job.
This thing is just massive! It’s 49 inches high, 70 inches wide and 46 inches deep with a whopping 91.3 cubic feet of storage! There’s not much you can’t fit in it. Bicycles? No problem. Push lawn mowers? No problem, and that’s without collapsing them. Garbage cans, garden equipment, you name it, there is plenty of room.
The Rubbermaid Slide Lid Shed is fairly easy to assemble. It’s not as simple as some of the other Rubbermaid models but then it’s certainly more substantial than most. Once it’s up, it’s pretty solid, although having a completely flat base it essential. If you’re using it outside, which most people will be, although there’s no reason why it can’t be used indoors, then you’ll want a solid base consisting of something like concrete. You certainly wouldn’t want it on grass or other soft ground as it will only skew and distort, which will then affect the whole structure.
As mentioned, there’s no reason why it can’t be used indoors but it’s clearly designed with the weather elements in mind. Like all the Rubbermaid storage sheds, the Slide Lid Shed consists of high-density polyethylene construction, making it resistant to rust, chips, cracks and any peeling. That’s definitely a worthwhile feature.
It’s also worth noting that the shed has a latch so it can be locked. This is helpful to ensure it stays closed, however, a lock isn’t provided and the end result isn’t something that’s completely secure. As mentioned, it’s more to ensure it stays closed in windy weather and keeps out children and animals. If someone seriously wanted to break into it then they wouldn’t have trouble breaking the latch.
Other than that, the only other thing worth noting as a potential downside is that the overall build quality could perhaps be a tad better. It does feel fairly solid once it’s up, but compared to other Rubbermaid sheds, it’s not quite as sturdy. This really isn’t an issue that should turn you off but it’s worth pointing out in comparison to the other Rubbermaid’s.
TIP: When looking to buy a shed make sure to factor in the cost of shipping. These sheds are heavy and the shipping could be significant!
